According to the internet, braked towing weight for car is 850kg. You need to check that with proper car paperwork like your handbook, but if that figure is correct then provided camper does not exceed that you will be ok but expect to use the gears uphill.

I think both campers you mention go 750kg fully laden so provided that is correct then go for it if it's the car you have. I'm assuming here that the campers are have brakes, ie not unbraked trailers.

The small trailer that you have previously towed would most definitely be an 'unbraked' trailer (no brakes incorporated) but a trailer tent can come in two categories which some people define a folding camper as a trailer tent but what you need to find out is if the trailer is 'braked' or 'unbraked'. You can tell the difference immediately because the braked trailer will have a handbrake on the hitch whereas an unbraked trailer won't. If it does have a handbrake then you need to take advice as what Opensauce (above post) has said regarding the paperwork to see what the vehicle limit is for towing an 'braked' trailer.

Hi thanks,Yeah the trailer was unbraked and the trailer tent I'm after will be braked and according to my car it says 850kg unbraked and 1,000kg braked, wouldn't fancy towing 1,000kg with the car think its too much for it unless it's okay

It won't be 850kg unbraked. Legal limit unbraked is 750kg or half kerbweight & I think on your car specified max unbraked tow weight is 450kg. Have a look in the handbook again but provided your braked trailer is 750kg you will be ok. I wouldn't tow more than that weight for reasonable performance.

Hi I just looked at the plate on the side of my car by the door and there's lots of number but I did see one saying 750kg and when I looked in the handbook it said it too, and yeah the trailer will be braked thanks.

I had a Conway Challenger, towed it with a Citroen 1.6 D ZX, pulled it no problem, the Conway trailer was braked. The only reason we changed from a folding camper to a caravan, was my wife diagnosed with cancer, and needed a bathroom! Its 6 years now, my wife is OK, ish.
