Hi,
Mondeo TDCI Zetec S is recently been costing me for repairs DMF,clutch,starter and now anjector has gone,so I am now thinking about replacing it for something more reliable.I was thinking Honda,has anyone towed with a Civic 2.2 IDTEC or CRV.Mondeo is 2002

I used to have a CRV and whilst it was an absolutely brilliant car it couldn't tow a bathtub :)

Seriously, it struggled towing less than 1000kg - a trailer loaded with garden stuff. In every other respect it was one of the best cars I have ever owned; safe, reliable, economical, but not a tow car.

We have been caravanning 44 years and have had lots of towcars.I am not just saying this as i own one, but have you considered a Santa Fe, especially the auto.If you can stretch to a 2010 model if buying second hand, they tow excellently.We have owned a Discovery and a Sorento previously to the Hyundai, but it tows superior to both of those,more power and better fuel consumption.
Plus a proper full size spare wheel.

I have a CR-V and it is a fantastic tow car. You must get one with a diesel engine as the petrols are poor tow cars.

An older 2.2 iCTDI or I-DTEC will be fine. You could also consider an Accord with either of the two diesel engines. My last car was an Accord Tourer and was utterly reliable and an excellent tow car

That explains it - mine was petrol. Apart from lack of towing guts it was a most comfortable car, never let me down once in 9 years. Love my Scoobie which tows very nicely but still miss the old Honda.

we towed with a 2009 ctdi and latterly with a 2014 dtec both were very good towcars , the 2009 crv went to spain every winter for 5 years towing a 1500kg Lunar and was absolutely faultless .
don't tow no more as were motorhomers but wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Crv
the civics are a bit to light for some single axle vans and only have a 75kg noseweight limit where the crv has a 100kg

I have towed both with a 1.8 petrol Civic and with a 2.2 CRV DTec, both were good towcars, the CRV efforlessly tows our 1300kg caravan and returns a good MPG doing so.

I tow with a 2010 crv 2.2 diesel ,my caravan is an eldiss affinity .it tows really well gets 30 mpg towing on a roads more onnthe motorway.
