That's the way I did mine. Before use a light wipe round with a dry wet n dry to remove any rust and clean with brake cleaner, job's a good 'un

the o.p has a trailer tent with a standard hitch ,therefore a quick rub down with fine grade wet and dry and then a good coating of grease is whats required .

Our alko hitch was craking horribly in France this year. Every time we hitched up, we poured water over the towball and then over the hitch one attached (then poured more water over the hitch when we arrived where we were going)

It's a short term fix, but it will get you on and off the site without sounding like the Clampets
