Hi all,
Unfortunately the vehicle I usually have access to is off the road at the moment and so I am looking to hire a 4x4 to tow with, just for a single journey, completed in one day. However, all possibilities I have found through Google want you to be 25+ and although I have my trailer test and a clean licence I am 22. Has anyone had any success finding 4x4s to hire with a tow bar at this age? Looking in the South West/West Midlands areas.

could you not hire a pick up with a tow bar / transit crew cab p/u. my son hires 1 of these regualary no problems

Could you ring THESE GUYS and ask what their age limits are...??

We've used them, but with us being OLD, we had no problems hiring a vehicle.....

As only age 22 - do you have B+E ? - if not then have you checked the combination GVW/MAM/MTPLM does not exceed 3500kg ?

Thanks for the replies, SHB are over 25 unfortunately. Annoyingly none of my over 25 friends have their b+e - I do but am hitting a brick wall due to my age!

Or could you get one of those 'tow for you' type people to do it for you since you say it's a one way journey...?

All this worry about a b+e licence, just go hire a transit with tow bar and get the job done, I very much doubt anyone will take any notice,
If they ask its for a house move, you would actually be telling them the truth sort of

The OP already says in his opening post that he has his trailer test (ie the b+E) so that is not an issue.

Brookhire in malvern used to hire out a ford maverick and car transporter combo for collecting cars etc... I think their age limit was 21 when I hired a car from them for a weekend many many years ago. http://www.brookhire.co.uk/rental-vehicles/4x4-hire/
