Off down to Newquay 3 o'clock in the morning for 2 weeks 😎, and the van is all loaded and ready to go. Happy with the way I've loaded it, everything over the axle, awning, wastemaster, aquaroll etc.

The front locker has minimum stuff in it, leg winder, spare wheel, water pump and the steady blocks.

My question is how do you gauge the nose weight without a proper nose weight gauge??

I can lift the front end up relatively easy, but not light light if that makes Sense, but at the same time not excessively heavy??

Does that make sense?????

I've towed the van 100 miles as the furthest a couple of weeks ago but with this journey in the morning taking me 300 miles, just after a bit of feedback from the experts!!

bathroom scales and a length of wood to support the hitch placed on the scales, the wood needs to be the same height as your towball on the car

If you don't have a proper nose weight gauge then the only way to check is by the bathroom scales method as mentioned in the above post. Whatever the tow car's noseweight limit is then that's the target to aim for for stability reasons. Too light can cause snaking and too heavy can make the front of the tow car lighter which can cause less traction on the front wheels.
If you don't know what the towball weight limit is, post the vehicle details and I can probably find it.

The towball vertical load weight limit for a Citroen C5 from 2008 onwards is 90 kgs.

Deffianately, I was working on 75kgs, so I'm pretty confident I'm not over as there is hardly anything in it, reading the other replies though,
Just hope it's not to light. Will have to try it for the first few miles in the morning and gauge it from there.

The information I provided is accurate and comes from a reputable towbar dealer but if you have a corresponding vehicle handbook it should confirm the same figure in there.
Just to add, the towbar company states that my Volvo V50 is 75 kgs. which also confirms the same figure in my official Volvo handbook too.

75kg is pretty heavy. Too little noseweight is as bad as too much. I would say don't be afraid to move some stuff forwards after a few minutes of travelling and see if it is, as the optician would say, better.... Or worse...?
