Hi.Looking to change our 12yr old 2.0 tdci ford focus cmax for something newer to tow our Conway cruiser folding camper weighing about 900kg? Preferably no older than 5yrs old. The newer and cheaper the better, but obviously with enough guts to not struggle uphill lol. Suggestions please...?
Thanks
Hi tango55
No, it doesn't have to be a 2.0 diesel again. I don't mind smaller or larger, hatchback or estate, diesel or petrol nor manual or automatic. Just looking for the cheapest, newest car (no more than 5yrs old) that's capable of pulling our folding camper without struggling.
Reliability would be good to know too.
Thanks for your reply.
Diesels are best for towing, and a modern 1.9 or 2 litre won't cost more than a smaller engine if you're going for 3-5 years old, but will work less hard than a, say, 1.6.
Check out Vauxhall Insignias - they depreciate through the floor and are an excellent second-hand choice.
