We have had a 2006 1.9 Tdi VW Sharan auto for seven years,(very similar to the Alhambras of the same age), and we are very satisfied with it.
Went out for a solo jaunt today and 40+ mpg.
We have a 2011 Alhambra Auto/DSG, so basically the current model and we love it. Tows our Adria a treat, stable and does not struggle. A great car when not towing as well. Would recommend.

I'm interested in the replies as I 've been thinking about the Alhambra. We have a seat Leon estate and I absolutely love it. But 2 grandkids and a pup (with crate)and camping gear, even with a roof box, is a bit snug.
Feeblecat I think you would have all the room you need in the Alhambra

As I said in my earlier post, great to tow with, does not struggle, seems stable, and great to drive solo as well.

In the post 2011 models you don't have to take the seats out, they simply fold into the floor. Same result, loads of space.
