Having recently been on our annual two week holiday with the van I noticed that the back end of the car and the nose of the van were really low. Certainly low enough for the jockey to catch on speed bumps.
The car is a 2015 Santa Fe with self levelling rear suspension. I checked the nose weight too which was 85kg so not excessive and although we had a few heavy items in the boot I wouldn't have expected it to drop that much. There was only three of us in the car. I thought the self levelling would have lifted the car but it didn't appear to.
On other cars I've seen you can see and hear the back lift when starting the engine. I saw nothing like that with the Hyundai. Does anybody have any experience of the Santa Fe self levelling system?
I asked the dealer who said you wouldn't see or hear anything which I thought was a tad odd.
I have 5 seater no self levelling and with 90 kg noseweight and boot loaded with awning and heavy stuff only drops another 10 mm with van on riding level. Tows superb. Previous motor Sorento with self levelling and you cannot tell the difference.
We have a 2012 Sorrento without SLS, it does not drop much with our Unicorn on the hitch. Its a brilliant tug!
We are looking to change for a new Sorento KX3 or Santa Fe top of the range, both of share the same chassis and powertrain.
These models both have SLS so its interseting to read comments.
We test drove a demo KX4which was superb, lots of toys, but for the same money we could have a new KX3.
We like the 5 seat Santa Fe as it has excellent storage where the extra seats go, SWMBO wants a sunroof so we would have to have the top of the range which has 7 seats!(Plus SLS)
All the Sorentos have 7 seats and SLS apart from basic one.
The 200 bhp is very nice, and I also liked the auto on the KX4

Hi pstuart, the car is really good and the 100kg nose limit is really helpful. The car pulls really well and is a very good tow car. Having driven to and from the Med I'd say the suspension is probably working but not great with a 1655kg van full laden. Of course I doubt anything other than a true 4x4 would be any better.
