Well not brand new but the new shape. We are looking at getting one to replace our 1.6 petrol meriva. The new shape come with a 1.7 cdti or 1.4 turbo petrol.
Been after a 1.7 cdti, but they are like rocking horse poo, so been thinking f looking at a 1.4 petrol turbo. We tow a erde 142 trailer with hard top loaded with all our camping gear. Do you think it would be ok or do you think we should hold out for a 1.7cdti.
Anyone else tow with one of these or have any experience with said car?
1.4 turbo petrol model is : 118bhp, 129lbs/ft torque
1.7cdti is128 BNP, 221lbs/ft torque.
Going on those specs the cdti is more suited but wounded if anyone has ny experience on the petrol version.
Thank you.

If you are towing an unbraked trailer then 1.4 will be plenty good enough although diesel would be better with better fuel consumption.
Yes that is my thoughts on it. Would rather have the diesel but with out traveling minimum of 150 miles to view one in the spec the wife wants. She drives the car more than me, as I work 10 mins away from home.
Sereouslt consedering the 1.4.

I don't like skodas.
And the Vauxhall is a lot higher of the ground for the wife as she has arthritis badly and struggles some days getting in to a car that is lower.
