Thanks Mike, I like both , I am looking to change my tow car and have liked the 2 mentioned, Ive been on all sorts of forums and reviews, and both get good good reviews , although I like the Freelander, but then you get the one or two who say dont touch landrover ! Its such a dilemma 😕😕
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Yes I know the Sorento has a good warranty, I am swaying towards the Freelander but when you go onto forums you get good and bad feedback on them , thats what makes it difficult. Although I suppose you get that with any car. I was hoping I could get a response from people who have or had a Freelander or Sorento.
Don't have a Sorento but have a Santa Fe and have been very impressed with it's towing abilities, it goes to the South of France no problem.
Have had stuff replaced under warranty without question.
------------- XVI yes?

We have a 4 year old Sorento KX2, its done 40000 miles and has been totally reliable. It has done 5 return trips to central/southern France, towing our Bailey Unicorn effortlessly.
Kia replaced all four alloy wheels under warranty at 3 years beacuse of a little corrosion on the rims!
We are thinking about replacing it with a KX3 or 4 as we fancy a sunroof and other extras, and maybe an autobox (standard KX4 or option on 3)
They are pretty economical and have plenty of torque, plus the good warranty!
Can't comment on a Freelanderr, I have driven one and liked it, Sorento has a bigger boot.

Thanks Dave , i'm going to have a look at both at wedkend. Sometimes its just your luck if you get a trouble free car. My current tow car is a Chrysler 300 SRT Design. And it tows great , it would pull any caravan , but ive had it 7 years and its only done 33,000 miles, but I just want a change.

Landrover do not seem to score well on reliability surveys like JD Power,Kia do well.
We have had 3 Sorentos, two old models then current one.
First (ex demo)had a couple of issues done under warranty.Second bought new,A faulty seat switch in 3 years!Warranty again.
I like LR s if money was no object would have a Range Rover!

Lol I would have a RangeRover too if I could afford one ! I know the Sorento would be good, my only concern is that some of the suv's all look the same , Sorento,Sportage,Antara,Kuga, Santa Fae, Mazda. All look very similar , I had considered keeping my SRT as I just serviced and MOT'd it 2 weeks ago, but had it 7 years and feel like a change.
What is the wheel base measurement, between front and rear wheels??
Just asking as when I drove the boss's Freelander when towing the works trailer*, I found it quite bouncy, as in front to back between the front and rear wheels (think almost a wheelie)...
This, I worked out was due to it having quite a short wheel base.
The same went for a demo tractor we had years ago, short wheel base for turning on the headlands of the fields when working land...
But you then look like a heavy metal rocker, head banging when towing a trailer on the road come harvest time.....
*The works trailer is a Ifor Williams twin axle trailer, and only had a dumpy bag of logs on, so wasn't anywhere near heavy.
I have a kx3 auto with self levelling suspension it has been a great car no trouble with it, the sat nav is absolute rubbish (small gripe)
A word of warning on the maximum tow ball weight on the auto it's quite low compared to the manual ours is a 2012 model.
Our last service bill was heavy at £760.00! It had brake pads and front discs on top of the service which was a minor one, this was at a main dealer.
I've never had a landrover but, there's loads about and the only reviews you read on the internet are bad ones! Lots of independent servicing for Landrover as well.
Would I buy another Sorento I suppose the honest answer is no. It's done everything I've asked of it but I find it a bit dull and uninspiring and heavy servicing bills.
Remember also the seven year warranty whilst on paper is excellent what it covers in years 1 and 2 won't be what it covers in year 6 and 7.
Best of luck with what ever you get.
Thanks for the Sorento info, to be honest I think there can be problems nomatter what tow car I get. Ive been on loads of forums and you get mixed views on both cars.
