I am thinking of getting a Vauxhall Astra 2litre diesel. Does anyone have knowledge of towing with one of these, also any general comments about them. Thank you.
Depends which one. My sister nearly bought one, she phoned me to check the details and it had a whopping 68bhp. Not the ideal caravan towing machine the dealer was making out.
Top of the range 2litre diesel has whopping 190bhp. Any current or late model 2litre diesel Astra will make perfectly capable towcar. Everybody hates Vauxhalls though. I don't think they ever recovered from their 1960s rustbucket reputation.
It wasn't the 60's ones that put me off, it was the first Vectra. Looking for a family sized car and sat in the Vectra and immediately rushed over to buy the Mondeo instead.
I sat in and it was like someone had locked me in a dark room and shut the door. Gloomy is an understatement.
