Just renewed ours for the fourth year running with quotemehappy.com - every year they have been the most competitive price, but don't find them on the comparison sites.
Went directly with Co-op in the end, much the cheapest. Thanks for all replies. Quotemehappy was over £700.
Asked Octogon for the reason for the increase "an insurer has pulled out of the UK market" or so they said. They won't be getting much business if all premiums have increased so much!
£548 is a lot better than the original renewal quote isn't it. My original CC quote gave me 180 days of foreign cover which I don't need so I added up to 90 days foreign cover, legal assistance and enhanced courtesy car to the Aviva policy and still saved over £100.
Just renewed my wife's new Mitsubishi ASX plus my ASX with Admiral. On a multicar policy both cars came to a total of £310 fully comp with protected no claims.
hi i would try direct line i had a pajero and they was the only ins to ins my pajero it was a import and that was 15 years ago ive got a hyundai terracan now but im still with direct line £300 fully com cheers .tom
Insurance premium is very much dependant on where you live. A rural area will usually be much cheaper than an urban area. Prices will also vary depending on the town or city you live in as well.
Had a similar problem with my insurance last year, premium doubled, explanation was my car(Kia Sorento) was a popular car to be stolen LOL,went to Tesco bank (£326 with the OH as a named driver, low excess and breakdown cover)same amount this year so staying with them,I've found going to the search sites, they quote one figure and the insurance company usually quote another

I was with Direct Line, they quoted £350 this year for just my car alone. In the end we insured both cars and still paid a good deal less than £350.
I guess you could reverse that free. Probably anybody with the insurer you are with now would have found their renewal premium had rocketed & probably gone with Direct Line for cheaper. It's mostly how the market works & provided you go with the market then it will work for you.

So very true ... a couple of years ago a friend of mine that lives near Manchester got a quote for his Honda Goldwing .. then he got another quote with everything exactly the same apart from he used my address and it was half the cost.
I`ve been with Churchill ins for years, £195.00 fully comp. For a 2.8 Shogun. When i get a renewal notice, i always ring back and say i have had a quote £8o.00 cheaper. They have always come back with a Quote about 20.00 cheaper than the renewal Quote. Happy Days☺
