I'm looking to change my BMW X3 and having looked at various cars i do like the look of the VW Toureag. I know they will tow virtually any caravan but was wondering what the MPG was like both solo and towing as we all know that the manufacturers fuel figures are not realistic. Any advice and input would be appreciated.

Depends on which engine your looking at.
V6 Diesel where they state 42mpg? More like 29 - 32mpg. Depending on your journey type.

If you in town a lot then expect less. Closer to 20mpg..

Would be a new car as lease deals are very competative at the moment. I get around 30mpg with my X3 towing but after speaking to owners of the bigger suv's low 20's seem to be the norm when towing!

My mate had one a few years ago and loved it. I'm sure he was happy with the fuel but then again he's has Range Rover x5's etc his bug bear was that it ate tyres, but that was the old shape one, I think his was a 09 owned for 3 years from new
