We are looking to change our car and were looking at Vauxhall insignia but after a lot of comments on here saying not good cars we are now looking at a Mazda 6 2.2D can anyone tell us what they could tow I can't find it anywhere our caravan is less than 1200 fully loaded thanks
You can get an idea of towing weights etc from the Parkers car specs website. I would have looked up the figures for you but there are several versions and I didn't know which one you were thinking of.
You won't have any problem towing your caravan with a Mazda 6 2.2 TDI, we have a 2003 Mazda 6 2.0 TDI which has 136 bhp and I wish it was that car with the tow bar instead of the gutles 90 bhp Peugeot 406 1.9 HDI.
The Madza 6 is a good heavy car with shed loads of torque.
Our Mazda 6 has always been very reliable.

Keep an eye on the oil levels though, if it starts rising your engine is about to blow
I'm not sure what age range that affects, ours being the older model doesn't have a dpf so doesn't have that problem, but it was a good point to make as I had completely forgotten about that problem.

It's worth considering that although the Mazda 6 is probably a better towcar than the Vauxhall Insignia it only has a towball vertical load weight of 75 kgs. whereas the Insignia has a weight limit of 85 kgs. plus the towing capacity is also another 200 kgs. higher as well. Just thought it was worth mentioning as you could be struggling to achieve the correct caravan noseweight with the lower limit of 75 kgs.
The Peugeot 406 towball vertical load weight is 80 kgs. which is in between the two above.
