Hi,I have a Vauxhall zafira life 1.6 petrol.i passed my test afther 1997 so I can only tow uoto 3.5 tonne MAM.it says on my VIN plate that my MAM is 2090 and my train weight is 3100.does this mean I can tow a caravan Upto 1,010 kg?if am correct I think you subtract your train weight from your MAM.is this correct? Any help much appreciated. Thanks Sean

Max tow weight for that car is 1 tonne so you need a caravan with fully laden weight of less than that.

Look on ebay for caravans. It's best to buy private in your price range. You will get one for less than £2k. plenty of 1990s caravans about for less than that price & less than 1 tonne.

You can tow that with just a B licence.

Hi I've found a caravan in my price range but the seller says it's 1035kg.would it not be legal for me to tow this caravan?

No & you have not said if it is that weight fully laden or empty. Either way it's too heavy. You need a caravan less than 1000kg fully laden weight.

Do not take seller's word for weight. You have to see it on the caravan. Look around caravan at bottom edge of body there will be a plate. On a 1990s caravan it should be stamped 'max authorised weight 1000kg' or less than that.
