my last 4 cars have all been leased...from different lease companies.
As far as towing goes, never had an issue with any...just that all have a different approach to fitting/removing the towbar. They have all allowed it, and all just want to know if you add a towbar....plus some insurance companies count this as a modification, so make sure it is declared.
Grand Cherokee. Fixed towbar myself and installed aftermarket plug and play electrics. No issues with lease company other than that they insisted that I remove it before hand back, which I was able to do myself, so no cost. Great for me as i was also able to sell this on at a good price.
Volvo XC60 (1) . fixed my own towbar myself and installed aftermarket plug and play electrics. No issues with lease co. I even removed this towbar and put it on the next car, but left the cover on the bumper so unless you were under the car you never knew!
Volvo XC60 (2) with a different lease company to the above XC60. The lease company allowed me to fix a towbar, but I had to get the Volvo electrics this time and have them activated for a small fee (my own choice, as it was most cost effective solution). The lease co insisted that I leave the towbar installed on hand back as there was a cut out in the rear bumper. No issues really as it was 6 yr old (the towbar) at this point.
Audi Q3 (current car). Towbar installed at factory as this worked out cheapest option, so no issues. Lease company not questioned anything this time round!
You got me thinking...
What's the towing capacity of the XC60?
As we may have a switch about next year when OH has her lease car changed, making her car the tow car and then mine being the 'smaller' runabout....
------------- Damned if I do...
Damned if I don't!!!!
