Hi just wondering what the best way is to remove the black paint off a new towball

I scrape it off with a stanley knife or a couple of dabs of paint remover and some alcohol spray or wipes.

And i keep a green scouring pad (green washing up pad, non soapy type) in the boot and give it a quick wipe over before hitching up.

No. Your only removing paint from the ball itself.

The paint will contaminate the pads on your stabiliser.

Grease and rust from the ball will do the same, hence carrying a green scourer pad.

As grampian says, but also it wouldn,t do any harm to clean the ball with methylated spirit each time before hitching.

I always use Holts brake cleaner spray as you can use it to clean and de-grease the friction pads up inside the hitch.
