I had a nose heavy Bailey from new. The dealer, "encouraged " by trading standards,moved the motor mover to the back of the wheels and also moved the spare wheel a bit further back.

Thank you to everyone for your advice. We are now looking at the i17 Ashurst which has an mtplm of 995kg and seems a better match to our current car

Yes. You really need to look at what the outfit will look like hitched together as well as just looking at figures. For that car a caravan of less than a tonne looks much better behind it. If a caravan looks too big for a car it probably is.

hi i have a question if anyone can help?
i need my weight of the car and the caravan combined to be under 3500kg as i passed my test after 1997. i have a suzuki grand vitara and a sterling europe 460 and i can find there combined weights anywhere and just need to now the weight to see if i need to do a extra test or not ? thank hannah

The weights will be on the plates on the vehicles. The caravan plate should be near the door or on the a frame, it should give you the MIRO and MTPLM figures. The car plate, usually just inside the door will give you the max vehicle weight and gross train weight, subtract the gross vehicle weight from the gross train weight to get the max towing weight. The max weights of car and caravan must add up to less than 3500 kg if you only have a B licence.
