Hi there

Hopefully someone can help.

The socket on our car isn't working properly so I bought another one to replace it.

After finally getting it off (drilling srews out and sawing off due to rust) it is slightly different to the one I bought.

Just to the side of the 7 pins there is a small blck with 3 spade type connectors. I went to several places today to try to buy one but nowhere had one.

From trying to look onlione it looks like it might be a 7 pin with micro switch. However, none of the ones I have seen online show a picture of the back so I can check if that's what it is.

I've attached a picture of it here. The extra connectors are on the left.

Thanks for any help.
Richard

Some sockets have a micro switch which disables the reversing sensors if car has them, when caravan or trailer is hooked on.

Thanks for the quick reply.

That's what I think it is, although the reversing sensors still beep like crazy when I reverse.

Does the picture look like it's that then?

Were the 3 pins connected to anything?

If there were wires on the switch there will only be two.If it does not switch them off when connected change the wires over aa when on two of them circuit will be made and changing over the circuit will be Broken. This is the mode you require when plug in the socket.Normally the common is the center so change the end one to the other end.

It could be a socket with rear fog cut out. They are designed to reduce glare from rear fogs.

The 3 spade connectors were only connected with 2, the outer 2, connected to a small plastic block.

To be honest, I'm not that bothered about the reverse sensors or whatever, as long as the lights on the caraval all work, which they have been.

I just want to make sure I buy the correct replacement so I can just copy the layout and push the other connector onto the the same spade connectors.

So I'm assuming I just need to buy a 7 pin sockets with micro switch like the one linked to below? It's just annoying because none of the ones I have found online show a picture of the reverse.

Thats the boy! Haven`t seen one for many years, though. Most modern cars with proper wiring harnesses fitted tend to do it automatically.
