I'm looking for a cheap caravan and this has popped up nearby. I wan't planning on getting something this long so I'm not sure if I could tow somethign this size.
I have a citroen c4 grand picasso, could I tow this?
Nobody can give you an accurate answer without providing the laden weight (MTPLM) of the caravan and the kerbweight of the vehicle. The MTPLM will be on a plate near the entrance door of the caravan and the kerbweight of the vehicle will be on the V5 document and possibly on one of the vehicles door frames, usually the driver's door.
That all depends on how much experience you have. If you are a novice to towing then it may pay to have some towing lessons first before jumping in at the deep end as they say.
With a GC4 Picasso you need to check the weights carefully, the kerbweight may be much heavier than the max tow weight. Check the weight plate on the car to get the max car weight and gross train weight and by deducting the max car weight from the gross train weight you will be left with the max trailer weight. There is a lot of confusion about Citroen towing weights, if you search on this forum you'll find several threads about the Picasso weights.
they are a big heavy van if i remember right.
but bloody good vans as well in there day, in fact seen one on a site this year looking like new, credit to the owner.
Bailey senator 5000 caravan
Great for a project as needs tlc
The roof is pinholed in a few places so needs painting with waterproof paint.
As a result the ceiling panels inside have been removed for inspection.
Needs a good clean and a paint up and some batten in the roof. Easy project
Galvanised chassis
Good hitch
All lights work
Tows well
Tyres are all inflated.
Just been towed 2 hours drive and no problems at all.
I took this on as a project but not sure I have time to complete.
Could deliver locally.
Would consider a swap/part x vans caravans Motorhome's. Anything with wheels.
I don't think I would want to tow something like that with my car, and it's a 2.5 turbo diesel. I would want something like a big 4x4 or a truck of some kind. Looks much too big for a Grand Picasso, but I could be wrong.
thanks for the repiles, i think i'll leave this one. checked my weights and the car can tow it, just....once i start loading in things like bikes etc, i'd be over the limit.
