ok guys I really thank you for all the help but im still as confused has ever so can anyone tell me if they have towed with a grand c4 1.6 diesel if so what was the caravan and how was it
Have you worked out what your car can tow? If you give us the 4 weights from the weight plate on the car we can check your max tow weight, we did ask for this information last month but I don't remember what the outcome was.
We've had 2 caravans that we could have towed with a GC4 Picasso but you are unlikely to find either of them available now due to their age. We also had self levelling suspension on our car so it was very stable when towing.
Towed 1200kg mgw van all over Europe in the past 7 years with 1.6 TDI C4 grand pic. No problems and could easily tow up to max speed limit. Great on steep inclines and in strong side winds. Only changed due to seats 6 and 7 in the back as not designed for adults on other than short trips.
Wayne has quoted "with load transfer within GTW limit 1180" in his previous post so he would be unable to tow 1200kg anyway. We just need to know his GTW so we can see how much he can tow when the car is fully loaded.
Just out of interest queensmessenger, which model exactly were you using and what was the max towing limit?
I remember the weights from your handbook but the gross train weight was not quoted. The weight plate will be on one of the door shuts on the front doors, I can't remember which door it will be on off hand. There should be 4 weights listed, the vehicle gross weight, the gross train weight and the two axle weights. If you can get the two higher weights and post them on here we can work out where you stand, we don't need the axle weights.
No problem Wayne. It's mainly Citroens and Renaults that have this confusing weight problem and it's made worse because the figures in the brochures do not match the actual figures on the car sometimes. It's quite possible to choose a car model because it is a good match for the car only to find out when the car is delivered that the car is not suitable at all.
Get the weights tomorrow and post them on here and we should be able to find out the correct figures for you.
