Hi Tony
We tow around the same weight.
Mines the 2.7 anything from 19 to 25 depending on roads and how you drive it.
The D4 is a bit better than the 2.7 on fuel.
Checkout this forum as well.

Hi Ray, thanks for your response.....just signed up with disco3/4.com......a great source of info.
Am slightly apprehensive with the Disco purchase after 228,000 miles on my 2.8 Shogun and 120.000 miles on my current Equippe model (pre DPF model ). But the quality of drive in the Disc4 compared with the Shogun is chalk and cheese!. I just hope the adaptive suspension, the DPF and the Ford built Lion V6 engine prove to be as trouble free as the Shoguns. I am very interested to hear of good and bad experiences with the Disco's 3 and 4.
By the by.....when the Disco was first launched..I purchased a six month old 300TDI....LOVED IT, 100,000 trouble free but noisy miles.

How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Have now got the Discover mk4. The Milenco teardrop shaped mirrors do not clamp effectively on the Disco mirrors because the outer casing of the Disco mirrors has a V shaped ridge and the bottom clamp on the Milinco is just a flat plastic moulding.........any one found a fix without having to purchase new mirrors?
