We're swinging towards getting the Mitsubishi Outlander 2.2 diesel. 1, as the new tow car, and 2, as her new lease car instead of going for another PHEV for her and me keeping the Shogun as the tow car...
We've trawled the showrooms to see if there was anything else that took her fancy, but all the others we looked at, she found difficult to get in and out of due to her sort of disabilities...
So, anyone got one, what they like etc, as we'll be towing 1500kgs with the one we get..???
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

My ASX has the same 2.2 diesel mated to the auto gearbox and 4wd. We tow about 1350kg, and the engine barely knows its on the back. Pulling out from say slip roads is a breeze, and overtaking slower lorries causes no problems. Generally averages about 30mpg towing at 56mph ish, and usually stays in 6th gear, only dropping down to 5th on steep hills. At the moment with just 5000 miles on the clock, its not fully run in yet.
Did a 300 mile trip with the van on the back last week, and it was effortless.
Would certainly advise going for the auto if possible, OK consumption is a bit lower but not disastrously so.
Then I would not hesitate to recommend the 2.2 4wd auto. The gearbox automatically adjusts to having the caravan on the back and alters when it changes up/down. Round town it does in the range 40-45mpg and on a longer run will do much better that this rising to 50mpg, which is very close to the manufacturer's combined mpg, although it is quite sensitive to a heavy right foot!
Friend of mine who has an Outlander tried my auto. Within minutes his comment was the next one will definitely be the auto version.
