Actually the publicity states 1400kg, however the plated weight on the door is 1470kg. - Check it out if you visit the Mitsu garage. All ASX since the very first ones have been plated this way, and this is what VOSA or the police will be bothered with.
Given that the Outlander, just some 60kg heavier and with the same engine, gearbox, wheelbase, all the 4wd running gear, and brakes is exactly the same and can lug 2000kg around, I see no problem in towing at 100% with the car.
Certainly mine is rock steady in a strong sidewind, and power is definitely not an issue with the 2.2 diesel.
