I have been offered a BMW 3 Series Touring E91 320d at a very reasonable price and I am very tempted.
My only issue with it is whether it will be ok to tow our Clubman Amara 4 berth which has a maximum loaded weight of 1450kg.
Does anyone else tow with a 3 series, and how do you find it?

Tony, at risk of being called an anti BMWist, my very close friend had the very same car. Firstly, it is the most awful car I have ridden in, second, I would not tow a pram with it. Disgusting car.

My only experience of a BMW was when I followed the hype of it being the best and went for a test drive in a 3 series GT.

It had so many shortcomings in basic ergonomic design I almost didn’t bother leaving the dealership.

As for the 320d ask questions about the DPF. Has it needed any work? If so it should be good for many years, if not budget for work into the future.

A colleague has just spent £1500 on DPF filter and replacement sensors on his 6 year old 320d.

I tow my Bailey Ranger with a BMW 320d convertible and am very happy with it. Towed from Perth to Hungary in June and to Southern Brittany in September with no problems at all.
The performance is more than enough for the weight of the van (1200kg) and the maximum towing weight for the car (according to the handbook) is 1600kg so you should be fine towing your van.
