We have a Volvo V70 Diesel, 14 yrs and 220K miles new, and it hardly notices our tiny Rapido pop-top caravan, grossing around 950KG, on the back. So it's ideal, except that it's diesel and it won't last for ever; our needs have also changed and we can cope with something slightly smaller, but still an estate, pref. with level loading platform, no lip at the back end.
While there's a scrappage scheme I'm looking vaguely at new, which I never thought I'd do, but it might be good to move on from our dirty old diesel, even if the mpg is ridiculously good!
Has anyone tried the petrol Skoda Octavia 1.4 manual?
- Or can comment on other petrol estates, for towing?
I don't see us going for SUV's or 4WD, as most of the time we need the estate car to carry lots of things in.
