Does anyone have a Kuga I was just wondering are the 2wd ones anygood with a caravan or not. I would be grateful to know if you tow with one, if its 2wd or 4x4 manual or auto and weight of the caravan, and what your experiences are. Thankyou all in advance

Do a quick search on here and you will find loads of threads about the Kuga, I think there was one in the last couple of weeks. Hopefully you'll find the answer to your question in one of those threads.
A 4wd would be better for towing, particularly on wet grass pitches
With a FWD car with a van attached the weight on the back reduces traction.
Most modern awd only comes in when it needs to, also useful in inclement weather!
Personally I consider 2wd SUV a waste of time but each to their own.

Firstly, I must say I totally agree with Dave about 2WD SUVs, seems absolutely pointless. They ain’t an SUV if they ain’t 4X4.
I have a 16 plate Titanium X, 2.0ltr 180 bhp 4X4 Auto, and it is the best vehicle I have ever towed with, absolutely effortless down to the Pyrenees and back to Roscoff via the Dordogne.
Tow with a 4X4 SUV and you will not tow with a saloon/ hatch again.
There are lots of good SUV tow vehicles out there......As long as they are 4X4. 😀👍
As well is two words!

If you dont need and have never needed a 4x4 stick with the 2wd version, i drove one last year and it was fine (didnt tow).
I can honestly say ive never been stuck on any grass pitch have you?
my van weighs in at 1560kgs yours is a lot lighter so shouldnt cause any problems
The 2wd versions are also cheaper to buy, tax run and i presume service.
Totally agree with Mike, we have had SUVs for years,we have done loads of continental trips without problems.
One May on a wet french site we pulled a VW camper and a couple of caravans off wet pitches with our Frontera, low ratio 4wd easy!
Also pulled a few vans off in this country.
Good friends of ours have just changed their Mondeo for an awd Kuga, its a nice car.
We have owned a S3 Landie and a classic Range Rover, bog standard apart from chunky tyres, amazingly capable off road! S3 not brilliant on road but they were fun cars, not used everyday.
2 wd SUVs about as much use as chocolate firequards But thats only my opinion!

No, but I would have been on at least 5 occasions without a 4x4,twice at Silverstone.
I have a 2fwd kuga Zetec 2012 (manual) and tow a 1400kg caravan and found it to be a great towcar, also a pleasure to drive solo, having said that we do not caravan on sites that would require AWD (seasonal pitch and French Holidays) it has served us well, looking to replace with new model probably AWD because extra weight required for heavier modern caravans
Thanks everyone for the responses, I didn't say in my post the reason for the interest in a Kuga is that we may upgrade the caravan to a larger heavier one but its just an idea at the moment. if we don't get the caravan we will keep the car we have as its perfect for our current needs

Orion if you search ford kuga on here I weighed a 2017 2 wheel drive last year on a weigh bridge near work.
It was a lot heavier than you’d think, might not need the awd
Many thanks Bessie for that information which might give a clue in explaining why my outfit is so stable even when fully loaded ie: the car is actually heavier than stated.
