We've recently returned to caravanning with our first outing planned for 8th April. However we just need a bit of advise. We own a Swift Challenger 570 and are towing it with a Peugeot Boxer L1 H1 2.2. We ride a Honda Goldwing Trike and would like to transport it in the back of the Boxer and tow the caravan. All the weights are ok but does anyone know of the legality of the trike in the back of the boxer whilst towing.
If the trike is ok in the back of the van when not towing, I can't see any problems. Who is to know what is in the back of the van? A van is designed to carry a load, and provided that you don't carry more than it was designed for it should be fine. A loaded van should be able to tow a trailer, they do it all the time commercially.
The only possible issue I can think of is that if the total weight of the van + load + caravan exceeded 3.5 tonnes, and you were doing this commercially, you would need a tachograph on the van. However, if as I suspect this is not being done commercially, no problem.

Shouldn't you be making sure you have the full on B+E part on your licence too, due to the combined weights you could be possibly getting near to...???
