A1 as above - A horrible stretch of road but the only practicable choice.

Durkar is next to M1 junction 39. To get there from A1 on A638 does mean going through Wakefield.

Another alternative is A1 north to A57 then west to Worksop bypass, M1 junction 31 and M1 north junction 39.
