With reference to my previous post I quoted: 'I wouldn't rely on that website either as I have found flaws in the results especially when comparing two different vehicles to a match'. I didn't make it clear which of the two websites I was referring to which was actually the website whattowcar.com and not the Caravan and Motorhome match service.

Hi Outdoorlass
Can I just double check those weights - unladen 1436kg, MTPLM 1600kg. That's a very small payload and if it's correct, you're going to be close to the MTPLM just with the essentials that you'll have in it to tow to a seasonal pitch (battery, gas bottles, water containers, awning, kitchen utensils etc).
I'm assuming that you either obtained your licence before 1997 or have a B+E extension. However, if this is not the case you can't legally tow that combination.
You don't say what car you have, but you need to check the manufacturer's towing limit. It's illegal to tow more than that. Bear in mind also that towing limits are established (a) using trailers and not high-sided caravans and (b) based on the weight that a car can physically move on repeated hill starts, and not necessarily tow comfortably at motorway speeds. If the towing limit of your car was 1600kg, your combination would be legal but I'd be concerned.
If your licence and towing limit permit the combination, the next consideration is engine performance. Put simply, a large diesel engine is better suited to towing heavy weights than a small petrol one.
Personally I wouldn't use any of the outfit matching sites. Too many incorporate data for non-UK spec cars and those used by both Caravan and Motorhome Club and Camping and Caravanning Club give sadly incorrect legal and safety advice.

From a previous post, the OP appears to have this;
VW Tiguan diesel 2.0 TDI blue motion SE dsw 4wd

I can't see that in this thread blueexpo, but if it's correct the Tiguan is a highly rated tow car and I believe that the legal towing limit is between 2000 and 2500kg, depending on model year. So the caravan should be towable with care provided that the OP's licence allows it.
