We are off to Weymouth soon and not sure which is the best way to go with caravan in tow.
We presume M6/M5 but then what?
Please could someone please point us in the right direction. I remember a nightmare journey in a car a number of years ago being hopelessly lost in the early hours around Yeovil.Definitely don't want to repeat that.
TIA

We have towed our TT from Manchester to Weymouth. M6 > M5 > A358 > A303 > A3088 > A37 isn't too bad, but you might have Yeovil nightmares again.

This route is a lovely drive, but a bit more up & down. M6 > M5 > A358 > A35

No Yeovil nightmares. if you follow the road signs to weymouth that start at J25 of the M5 then you skirt Yeovil by the westland helicopter factory. you then go through west and east coker etc... (a wierd place name i remember)

the roads are mostly dual carriegaway now and theres a nice picnic spot at cartgate on the rondabaout of the A303 and A3088. you wont have any problems with road width etc they are the only routes for HGVs. you my get hacked off with the traffic though. leave early if you can.

i was staying at highlands end (bridport) once and a guy rocked up next to us at about 10am he had been waiting for the office to open. he said he was form your way and had left at 5am.

Were just back from Weymouth (East Fleet) and used this route. We found it well signposted and hassle free.

Yes after the A3088 joint the A30 a short distance onto the A37, that`s the way we always go and will be going that way in June. Entered Yeovil years ago from a stay at Cheddar, never again.

At that time you will be there by 9. Enjoy Weymouth, which campsite are you staying at?

Well, we arrived here safely after a long but pleasant journey down. We followed your directions which were so easy to follow.. With a couple of stops it took us seven hours. We set off at five am.
Thanks baileyjake for the tip about the picnic area at Cartgate. It was an ideal stop to have an early lunch.
We are now all set up at beautiful Mouse Cottage enjoying the sunshine.
