In 2 weeks we will heading off to Cornwall for our summer hols in the big white wobble box.
We have for the last 4 years stayed at a CL site near Mevagissey, this year we are going to Carnon Downs.
Any suggestions as to the best route from the A30 down to between Truro and Falmouth?

Why not take the A38 instead of the A30?
We did it that way earlier this year with no problems.

Yep, A38.

Best thing about going to Cornwall..........You have to drive through Devon to get there! 😀👍

Have never gone down the A390 from the A38 towards West Cornwall, what's it like for towing?
We usually use the A30 then the 391 through Bugle

From the A30 the A390 can be extremely busy, and when you reach the junction with the A39 you will have a right turn with a double mini roundabout to deal with.
If you go straight onto the A39 at Carland Cross, going through Truro that way is less of a problem than on the A390. You will have a climb out of Truro, but at the top of the hill you will have a left turn onto the A39 and negotiating the double mini roundabout should be easier.
Bertie.

We live in Falmouth and if we've ventured over the Tamar always use the A30 coming back. Left turn at Carland Cross then through Truro. Avoid Truro at midday as there are queues but it is the easiest route when towing. Hill out of Truro but keep on the left ready to turn for Falmouth. Carnon Downs is off 2nd roundabout on the left.
