Hi, new to the touring scene & after some advice, I have just bought an Avondale Avocet 2berth 1998 which I'm informed has a Mass in running order weight of 940kg. I currently have a Nissan Kubistar van (same as Renault Kangoo) which has a kerb weight of 1069kg, a gross vehicle weight of 1685kg and shows a tow limit of 815kg. Am I able or should I tow with my van ? Or am I best / do I need to look for something bigger ??? I thought that as long as the vehicle towing - exceeded the weight of the caravan it was towing then that was ok ? Or is that too simplistic ?? Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.
Mass in running order (MIRO) is the basic weight of the caravan when it leaves the factory without any equipment onboard (PAYLOAD) which in your case ir 940 kgs. The MIRO + the PAYLOAD = the fully laden weight (MTPLM) and it's this figure you need to make any calculations on.
Thanks for taking the time to reply - pretty much along the lines of what I thought, but I've seen that much conflicting stuff , I thought I would check with people with genuine knowledge !! Cheers.

For what it costs I suggest joining the c and c club as they really can help with this. Regardless I'd say you need to upgrade your car
