When we go to Scarborough we usually use the A64 around York.Over the years the congestion has got worse particularly near the end of the dual carriageway at the roundabout near Beechwood Grange Caravan Club site.We going this Saturday morning and usually hit the congestion about 10am.
Has anyone found the A1237 route to the north of York any better? It looks to be single carriageway but maybe less congested.
Any advice /views welcomed.

your better staying on the A64! the traffic the other way is even worse

In my opinion the 1237 is as bad as the A64, always busy regardless of time of day, lots of roundabouts, it gets congested near Clifton moor retail park, also you will still end up at the bottle neck near Beechwood Grange
I would stick with the A64

I live in York and use the A1237 regularly, it is usually congested in several sections for the majority of the day. You may be lucky at 10am on a Saturday but if you follow it to where it meets the A64 again you will still hit the busy stretch of the A64.

There is no quiet way around York at busy times. The A64 is the better of two evils.

Definitely another vote for the A64. Horrible road but still better than the alternatives!!
