Hi guys, after some advice from Rob and Tina (Rob) on this forum i have decided to sell my current car (c4 picasso) and i have bought a Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 ecoflex cdti. I have had a look about for towbar fitting and dont fancy paying the prices quoted, so am going to do myself. The problem is, i cannot find the info i think i need. So i intend on wiring a 13 pin socket using a vehicle specific harness, so thats the lights sorted. Now for the power to caravan fridge and battery which is the prob. Am i just to install a power supply from car battery/fuse box into relay (TEC3M) then into 13 pin socket??!

Add a fuse right at the point you take the power from and make sure the wiring is rated about 50% more due to the cable length and voltage drop.

Use 4mm cable for fridge to prevent volt drop. Fridges nowadays are anything up to 170watts. When we started caravanning 46 years ago they were only 8watts just enough to keep cool whilst travelling. No better than the present day cool boxes.

HI
I fitted a dedicated wiring loom from PF JONES (Manchester) in an Astra, this came with all the required wiring for fridge, battery and lights.

Very easy to fit in fact if I remember right two earth wires, two to battery, and one to the canbus.

look at their web page and the fitting instructions can be found
