Hiya. Can anyone tell me what the nose weight of an Abbey Adventura 316 2006 5 berth is please?
The maximum loaded weight is 1414kg and 5% of this is 70.7kg, so am I correct in thinking this is the correct nose weight?
I don't know where to find the nose weight of my car? Our caravan will be loaded with heavy good over the axle etc.
It'll be the first time we've towed so maybe I'm being overly cautious but I want to get things right.
Our tow car is a Nissan XTrial 2006. If this helps.
If you have a handbook the noseweight limit should be in there. If not, a fair average is 75kg, so I would be inclined to go with that. It's very unlikely the X Trail would have a maximum noseweight lower than that.
In my experience I always tend to load to the maximum the car will take, and a properly loaded caravan as you describe should cause no problems at all. Another guide is if it looks right it probably is. If you car's headlights are illuminating aircraft, or shining down drains, you have a problem!
The towball maximum vertical weight load for a 2006 Nissan X-Trail is 100 kgs. so you need to aim to get the caravan noeweight to somewhere around 90 kgs. but not to exceed 95 kgs. If you have an Al-ko stabiliser hitch then the maximum weight allowance is 100 kgs. anyway so the above figures are a good recommendation to adhere to. However, if the noseweight is too light then you will most likely encounter some instability issues regarding wind or passing high sided vehicles so ignore the percentage of the caravan's weight to hitch ration and try to achieve the caravan noseweight in relation to the towing vehicle.
