Hi , I'm looking to get a towbar for my Passat CC and have heard from a fitter that the car will not tow a caravan with the rear tyres rubbing the arches . Anyone heard of this ?
Have you checked whether it is Type Approved to tow?
Check the Handbook, the V5 and the plate on the bottom of the drivers door post. If that does not show figures in line 2 then it isn't.
Practical Caravan tested a Passat CC 2.0 TDI 140 in its 2013 Tow Car Awards. It made a 'great towcar' and had a useful 90kg. towball limit, which would suggest the suspension can handle the weight.
Thanks all , just couldn't afford to make a potentially expensive mistake , I plan on using a different but highly recommended fitter . Appreciate your comments .
Hi we currently tow with a vw cc and it makes a really good towcar, in our case we tow a elddis crusader aurora and it does this nicely, we have found that if we tow in 5th gear rather than 6th and get around 30mpg while towing
