Hi All
You're right about maximum speeds on French motorways but do be carefull. The higher speed which you qoute is normally only on toll sections. Non-toll sections is 68 m.p.h. Speeds are reduced on m/ways in poor visibility (rain) to 68 on toll sections and 62 on non toll sections.
You can be booked at toll booths when the distance you've travelled and time joining the m/way etc might show you've been speeding.
Pays to pay particular attention to their speed limit signs on all roads. Town name signs in blue letters with a light background and red border indicate a speed zone - 30 mph.
French police are pretty hot on it at times and issue on the spot fines as well. No, they're not picking on us Brits, it just feels like it sometimes (normally when you're caught).
Regards
Pat
