Yep, it does make you wonder, a 3 Pot engine has to have some sort of counter balance tech, maybe they should concentrate on 2 Pot petrol engines, like what the Fiat 500 has.
I am no engineer, but to have an odd number of cylinders seems out of sorts to me.
Even those in the know, think it odd that the new Ford Dragon petrol engine comes as NA, with no Turbo, I was wrong with thinking that the Dragon engine used Induction tec, that is something found on the current 3 Pot petrol eco boost engines.
It seems the lack of Turbo on the Ford Dragon engine is more to do with keeping cost’s down, how they can say the new engine has more power at 123hp, when the current 3 Pot engines can deliver 150hp is a mystery to me.
Again those in the know, are saying that the Ford Dragon NA engine will be quickly followed by a Turbo offering.
Amazing how all this stuff is going on with fossil engines, whilst the main race is to BEV’s becoming main stream.
Interesting times indeed.

Yep thanks for the info takisawa, the Tiguan seems slightly better on MPG than the Kuga, and like you say no problem with these 3 Pot petrols.
It will be interesting to see what the Kuga will return on MPG, going along the French autoroutes for the best part of 1,500 miles, just a case of setting the cruise control to a sensible speed and not hammering it, we got four days to get there and three to get back, so we are in no rush.
Your spot on about being cleaner, the Kuga gets a 1 Crit Air badge for France, whilst the VW Golf TDi got a 2, in fact a 1 is as good as it gets for a fossil car with the Crit Air scheme.
According to the handbook the Kuga is not run in yet, only 700 miles on the clock, but I will have passed the 1000 mile run in mark by this Tuesday, will be able to stretch the old girls legs a bit after that.
