We’ll be travelling from Southport to Bury (CC sites) on Friday and would welcome advice on the best/easiest route towing a caravan (not necessarilythe most direct). Have checked maps and route finders, but there doesn’t seem to be an “obvious” route.

M58, M6 south, and either East Lancs road East,(my choice), to M60, or M62 onto M60. M66 off at Junction 2. Follow the signs for Burrs Park

I'd be happy to go through Ormskirk depending on the time of day

Thanks Jim, that’s the route I was looking at but didn’t know whether it would be really busy along the East Lancs Road, especially on a Friday.

Yes, we’re intending to leave about 10.30am as we can get on site at Burrs Park from 12.00 - thinking it’ll take about an hour and a half to get there?

Well, we used the route Jim recommended (M58, M6 south, and either East Lancs road East, to M60, M66 off at Junction 2) and had a very straightforward journey. Many thanks again - you can't beat first-hand knowledge.
