I'm currently setting myself up for camping holidays with my young family. I looking to tow a trailer behind my 09 plate Mondeo. Firstly, I'm new to towing so forgive my ignorance. The Mondeo appears to already have the towing beam and electrics fitted (see attached pics), but it doesn't have a towing bar/hook/ball (not sure what they're called). I've had a look around the net but I'm non the wiser on where to find a towbar that would fit this setup.
Hi, you have a tow bar fitted that has a removeable tow ball, the tow ball assembly fits into the hole protected by the plastic plug. The first thing to do is try to find what make the tow bar is and then find the correct ball to fit. Have a look on the bar for a sticker showing the manufacturer etc, with luck there may be a part number that would help.

PS Welcome to the forum, if you put your location in your profile somebody may be able to suggest a local supplier for you.
Thanks, I've taken the plug out (picture attached). Unfortunately can't see any part numbers or anything to identify the manufacturer from what is visible. I'll probably have to remove the bumper to look at the beam. Should have a serial code on it.
It does look like the Witter bar we had on one of our cars but all the different towbars look similar. If you can't see a sticker on the bar it might be worth asking your local tow bar fitters if they can identify the bar and supply a ball to fit. Have a look on ebay as well as people often sell the old ball after changing cars, I've sold a couple on ebay for around £25 but they cost a lot more from the distributors.
If its a witter its probably cheaper to not get a removeable
witter do kits that turn removeable to permanent ( it was half price in my case)
its what i was advised to do by the witter dealer when the guy who had nine before me wanted £150 for the ball

Not necessarily. The car I bought last September only had the name of the dealer I bought it from. Despite being very friendly and helpful in other respects, they told me that they could not give me the name and address of the previous owner due to data protection laws. I wanted to find out if the cambelt had recently been changed, as if not it was long overdue.
