We have just had a new car, which is heavier than our old one. My husbands licence only permits him to be 3500kg. The basic weight of the car 1820kg and caravan MTPLM combined is still below this figure at 2920kg. However the plated max permissible weight of the car is 2500kg and would therefore take him over. We have done some calculations and with the load capacity of 680kg, even with all 4 of us, the dog, the roof box and the boot loaded we are no where near this figure. My question is though, for insurance purposes what do they use? Thanks
