Hi all. First off huge apologies to everyone who replied to my first post. I had some personal stuff to sort out over Xmas all done now. So we bought a crusader superstorm with single motor mover and all seems ok. Went to Devon over half term to test etc all good.
We are thinking of heading up to Loch Lomond at easer for a few nights at luss followed by a few nights at muasdale. Just want to know if this is a good idea with a “big rig” or are the roads so narrow up there as to be stupid (I am a confident tower with plenty experience, just never been up there before)
I'd reckon on three hours and allow some leeway if it's a good weekend and a lot of traffic on the road. They're doing quite a lot of roadworks on the A83 at present, most of which should be completed by Easter. I'd allow five minutes at the traffic lights if they're still working on the Rest and Be Thankful and it looks as though they will be! If you're on Facebook, it's worth checking out the A83 page - it can be quite useful on roadworks and also potholes - the damaging kind. I say that because there were a few nasty ones on the section from Tarbet to Inverary last week but BEAR (who deal with trunk roads in Scotland) is getting better at dealing with them.
Not done the section between Inverary and Lochgilphead for years. The road between Lochgilphead and Tarbert is twisty and one small section is quite thin - if you see a forestry lorry heading towards you - hang back!!
