Just changed my car to a Mondeo titanium estate mk4 and it has the towbar but not the swan neck, this is what's fitted
Witter
E11 00-6938 part No F129au AX50-x D=10.11KN S=80kg
My question is can I tow a coachman Amara 380 /2 with this with a new swan neck or do I need to fit a complete new towbar
I did reply to this post earlier from my phone but the message has disappeared so I'll try again.
If you are saying that you have a tow bar fitted that has a detachable ball then all you need is a new detachable ball from a Witter dealer.
If your Coachman has an Alko stabiliser hitch you could use a swan neck tow ball or a two bolt extended tow ball suitable for the Alko hitch. A replacement detachable ball won't be cheap but it will be much quicker and easier than getting a new tow bar fitted.
You haven't given the weights for your car and caravan but I expect your gross train weight will be under 3500kg so could be driven on a restricted licence if you have one.
Thanks for the reply, I always assumed that a towbar on a car would tow anything to the limit of the car, but the S=80kg has me worried, in case it's just for towing trailer's,
Tried ringing and emailing Witter but no reply
Thanks for the info, I'll check it, we usually only have 2 6kg gas bottles and the alko hitch lock in the front locker, stuff like ground sheet, chair's, porch awning are in the van over the wheels so fingers crossed just got to find a suitable swan neck
Ooooo ! I like that reply 👍if that's right I just need to find a detachable swan neck to fit, would it matter if the swan neck says something other than 80kg 🤔
