Can anyone recommend/know of a car hire company who have tow cars that can be used in Spain. We have broken down in Spain and the repatriation may be complicated, so we’re looking into a plan B, which could involve flying home to get a hire car and coming back over on the ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbao (return).

When asking for hire cars with towbars
this company in Portsmouth came up, although there are others in the South.

AA or RAC should bring you home if your with them, or at least the van and car, even green flag

Not sure where you are but I hired a VW LT35 van with a tow bar to tow a car transporter to Germany and back, this was foley van rental so it must be possible. There is a car hire company local to me Brookhire in Malvern who hire 4x4s for towing.

SHB Hire have rental 4x4s with tow bars nationwide. Not sure what their policy is on using them abroad though, unless you can add the vehicle to your own insurance.

I don't know what their prices are like, but generally 4x4s are very expensive to hire because the company assumes that you are going to use and abuse them off-road and cause a lot of damage.
