It really depends on the age of the BMW, yes some 5 series are straight forward to do, however the wiring is not as easy as plug and play on most of them. Most BMW have certain features already pre-programmed, for example the C2 function will work and the fog will turn off, but most BMW's have a button for the parking sensors which can only be bypassed if you find a dealer with a technician that knows what to do. Generally they won't know what to do, this is also the same for Radar cruise, lane assist etc.
(This is generally the same for most F series and G series BMW's)
We would always recommend you fit Vehicle specific wiring on any late E series onwards.
Fitting VS wiring can be plug and play if you own certain vehicles like Land Rovers as they provide 2 plugs on the crash beam, but most manufacturers don't unless the vehicle has trailer prep.
