Upgraded tow car from a great vw passat because of it's age to a 2013 Kia Sorento manual awd 2.2 litre 1845 kerbweight. I tow a Bailey Sancere mtpl 1435 kg so a good match in theory.
So far not had a very stable ride....feels very twitchy in crosswinds, articulated lorries etc. Experimented with different noseweights as can go to 100 kg but not found a happy medium.
My question to other owners of this car is how do you find it towing and what mpg are you getting....plus what noseweight do you find gives it the best stability when towing. Thanks.
We have a 2016 2.2 so I think this might be a later model than yours but my husband is always talking about how much more stable it feels than our old car. We get 30mpg towing and about 40mpg solo on a decent run. We keep the noseweight at about 97 and tow a Swift Challenger 560 weighing in at 1550kg.
We had a 2012 Sorento KX2 for nearly 4 years, it was an excellent towcar which was very stable towing a Unicorn Vigo.
We did two European trips each year, plus plenty in UK with no issues.Mpg was high twenties towing (manual car).
Now have a 2016 Santa Fe which is even better. It has same platform as Kia. We only switched to Hyundai because the deal was better than for another Kia.

You don't say which model it is. KX2 and higher had self levelling suspension. I had a KX2 and towed many miles with a twin axle behind without issue. I understand without the SLS it is not as good. Always towed with max weight on towball. Mine was auto. I have heard some people have replaced worn SLS with normal dampers as cheaper!! Has it had accident damage?
It is the KX2 and has self levelling supension....as far as I know it's not had an accident...will try towing with max noseweight and see if that alters the twitching.
