I have had one car on Motability and as Tango says it can work out expensive in the long term. The added down payment in order to get a suitable tow car, the price of the fitted tow bar, which motorbility stipulated must be fitted by the dealership and the appropriate soft wear updates installed, then the extra Greenflag breakdown cover, not to mention the cost of loosing every penny of the Mobility component of what was DLA at the time made us think again when it came to the end of the contract. For us, it worked out better to buy a new veichle with an aim of keeping it for several years, get it protected by extended warranty, freebie extended servicing as part of the deal, use our full NCB on the insurance costs, and take out Green Flag breakdown cover. We also had some adaptions added to make it easier to get my personal set of wheels in and out of the car curtesy of Autochair.
We are very pleased 6years down the line that we have done it this way, especially as it’s now much less choice available on Motorbility when it comes to finding a suitable tow car.
