I have a Bailey Orion 440/4 which is 1100kg caravan and I want to buy a Kia Sportage Axis edition 2015 1.7litre diesel, does anyone out there tow with one and what’s it like please
I think you need to check your weights again as all the info I have seen says that your caravan is 1245kgs fully loaded which means that the kia is over its max allowed weight by 50kgs
Did you use the search facility? results here, not all will be relevant.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

oh the car only has a towball weight of 50kgs, so making finding anything more than a folding camper hard work
We towed with a Kia Rio, also 50Kg noseweight, for 5 years. We just moved the heavier stuff a little further towards the rear of the 'van.

that is a big no no! and considering most caravans are over that weight even empty its a juggling game trying to balance them
We used to have an Orion 430/4 mtplm 1245kg. We towed it with a Hyundai ix35 2 litre diesel which is basically the same car as the Kia Sportage. We ended up changing car as the combination always felt very unstable no matter how carefully we arranged the loading. We definitely would not recommend it.
We looked at the Kia Sportage and the Hyundai ix35 neither of them looked like they had good towing credentials. We went for a 2 litre diesel Kuga. Two years later we are still tickled pink with it.

I said a LITTLE further back! The awning was carried midway over the axle and was moved less than a foot towards the rear of the 'van. The noseweight was reduced by 25Kg and produced no adverse effects.
The current 2l Sportage is an excellent towbar. I have also had a Kuga and the Sportage is every bit as good in my opinion. I actually prefer the Sportage and it also has space for a full size spare wheel.

It was a 2 litre model with the less powerful engine. 2010. Quite a good car but I didn’t like the space saver wheel. We did buy a full size spare but had to raise the boot floor to accommodate it.
