Hi guys (and gals)
New car delivered today and the plug on my trailer is 7 pin but 13 pin on the car...all the adapter on eBay even when UK only is selected are from China, would rather buy from reputable uk dealer online as don’t want to go into any shops
Maypole have a good reputation for towing plug and socket adaptors which the one you need is available at Screwfix for just under 12 quid. All you have to do is click and collect from your nearest store which is quick and simple and guaranteed a quality product without any P&P charges.
I bought one from the car parts and accessories shop in my local town and it worked well.
I do not have a clue where it was made though.

Are there different types as I’ve seen pics with male and female 13 pins adapters or do they come with both ?
There are various types of adaptors depending on what connections you want to adapt. For instance, if you had 2 plugs (black and grey) on the trailer then the adaptor shown in my previous link wouldn't be any good as you would need a Maypole 13 pin socket to twin 7 plugs. The black plug is for rear trailer lights only (which is what you need) whereas the twin version is for an extra connection for caravans which is to charge the leisure battery and to operate the fridge via 12 volt power when in tow.
When I fitted and wired up my tow bar I wired it to a 13 pin socket for fridge and battery charging, I bought one of the above mentioned adaptors for when I tow my trailers, also if the need be I can move my daughters caravan. Been using it for 6 years without any problems, small enough to stay in drivers door pocket.

The link Tango gave is the correct one for you. I've had one of these for years with no problem. You can leave it permanently plugged into the car or to your 7 pin trailer.
I have a 13 pin car and caravan and a small trailer and dinghy trailer both with 7 pin.
